TANGGA is a sculptural, minimal furniture collection that is an homage to Penang’s distinctive and unique architectural style, particularly in the Georgetown UNESCO Heritage Site. TANGGA takes cues from elements of this design language, capturing impressions and solidifying them in matter and form. The result can be interpreted as architectural fragments, capturing the essence of the symmetry and linear and monolithic qualities of the architectural features and landmarks in the city. Made of spray-painted plywood, TANGGA is assembled with intersecting and mortise and tenon wood techniques without any adhesives or nails.
